Description

Position Description Summary:

The Laborer / Material Handler performs a variety of tasks and functions to assist numerous departments in the preparation, maintenance and transport of materials to support efficient production and delivery of product.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Promote and adhere to the Core Values and Behavior Code.
  • Operate all material handling equipment including, but not limited to, fork trucks, mobile cranes and overhead cranes.
  • Load and unload all company trucks and assist with deliveries when applicable.
  • Check material received and shipped for correct quantity and correct materials as noted on the shipping and receiving documents.
  • Work effectively with all shop departments to ensure a constant flow of materials.
  • Maintain all appropriate material storage areas to facilitate accurate and prompt delivery of materials.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of rigging procedures and material handling procedures.
  • Assist with creating packaging, crates and securing products for shipment.
  • Responsible for achieving good speed executing while maintaining quality workmanship in a wide range of material handling activities.
  • Required to build boxes and crates to fit shipments.
  • Maintain work area, equipment, and supplies in a neat and orderly condition.
  • Required to wear appropriate PPE as required by job duties.
  • Promote company goals with a focus on Safety, Quality and Production
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Position Requirements:

Education/Experience:
  • Highschool diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years related production experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work at a quick and consistent pace.
  • Experience with electrical and manual tools.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Knowledge of safety standards.
  • Self-motivated and able to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and follow through on verbal and written instructions.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to shift priorities based on the organization's needs.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Dependability, integrity and professionalism are essential.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

This full-time position operates in a production environment. Physical effort consists of frequent handling of light to average weight and materials, some handling of heavy weights, some pulling, pushing. The employee must be able to lift and move items up to 50 pounds. Work performed requires constant alertness and activity, good hand/eye coordination and concentrated mental and visual attention required.

  • Work gloves (required for certain tasks)
