Primary Purpose:
Responsible for oversight and management of schools to ensure legally sound and effective management practices. Provides coaching and leadership to principals and collaborates with central office teams to ensure successful student outcomes, best practices, and other services.


Qualifications:

  1. Education/Certification:
  2. Master's Degree in Education
  3. Valid Texas Administrative Certification
  4. Principal certification required

Experience:
Minimum of three years as a campus principal; Secondary experience preferred.


Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Lead campuses in continuous improvement of education for all students.
  2. Supervise campus principals providing leadership and guidance.
  3. Provide instructional leadership in the district's educational and extracurricular programs.
  4. Review and recommend to the superintendent appropriate policies, administrative regulations, and administrative practices.
  5. Visit all campuses frequently, giving ongoing feedback to campus administrators.
  6. Collaborate with the superintendent and other administrators on district issues, activities and long-range plans and projects.
  7. Advise administration of developments in areas assigned and make recommendations for possible implementation.
  8. Attend board meetings and make presentations when appropriate and/or requested.
  9. Attend campus and district events when appropriate and/or requested.
  10. Ensure that programs are cost effective and that funds are managed prudently.
  11. Implement the policies established by federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule, Texas Education Agency rule, and local Board policy in the areas assigned.
  12. Compile budgets and cost estimates based on documented program needs.
  13. Coordinate the development of student handbooks and student code of conduct.
  14. Assist in communicating the district programs and policies to the public and staff.
  15. Assume responsibility for unresolved campus issues.
  16. Conduct annual observations of principals and other administrative staff supervised.
  17. Ensure district compliance with Title IX at the campus level.
  18. Oversee all student transfer requests at the campus level.
  19. Oversee the discipline management program and monitor for equity and effectiveness.
  20. Encourage, oversee, and participate in activities for recognition of student efforts and accomplishment as well as high school graduation.
  21. Encourage, oversee, and participate in staff recognition and support activities.
  22. Oversee the district's new teacher mentoring program and monitor staff development for effectiveness in improving district performance.
  23. Ensure that all campuses meet the requirements of the district's discipline Student Code of Conduct.
  24. Participate in the selection of campus administrators.
  25. Oversee programs for aspiring principals and novice principals.
  26. Work with others to compile and report projections of staff and facility needs.
  27. Meet routinely with campus administrators to coordinate and articulate programs between schools.
  28. Participate in the recruiting/screening/interviewing of quality leadership positions in the district.
  29. Assist supervisory personnel in conducting due-process procedures.
  30. Coordinate the placement of student teachers.
  31. Use management practices that promote collegiality, teamwork, and collaborative decision making among staff.
  32. Implement policies associated with and oversee processing of student/parent complaints and grievances.
  33. Develop training options and improvement plans for department staff to ensure the department's effective operation.
  34. Ensure that department operations contribute to the attainment of district goals and objectives.
  35. Participate in professional development activities to maintain current knowledge of school leadership rules, regulations, and practices.
  36. Compile, maintain, file, and secure all physical and electronic reports, records, and other required documents.
  37. Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department staff and make sound recommendations relative to personnel placement, assignment, retention, discipline, and termination.
  38. Oversee district attendance initiatives.
  39. Maintain confidentiality.
  40. Other duties as assigned.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Ability to think clearly in stressful situations; a high stress tolerance required. Frequent prolonged and irregular hours. High physical stamina necessary and ability to work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress.


Salary Range: $100,525 to $140,735
